Empowering through Complementary Basic Education

We're excited to share the latest development in Offinso North District, located in the beautiful Ashanti Region of Ghana. Link Community Development (LCD) recently organised an initial stakeholders engagement to kickstart the implementation of Complementary Basic Education (CBE) in the district. The event brought together major stakeholders, including the Complementary Education Agency (CEA), Ghana Education Service (GES), Ghana Health Service (GHS), the District Assembly, and other relevant departments such as Social Welfare and Community Development, the Ghana Statistical Service etc.
The primary aim of this initiative is to empower communities in Offinso North District by providing access to quality basic education for children who have dropped out or have been excluded from the formal education system. Through CBE, Link Community Development aims to create inclusive learning opportunities that will bridge the educational gap and improve literacy and numeracy skills among disadvantaged children.
The stakeholders engagement served as the starting point for scoping activities, as participants had the opportunity to discuss the implementation strategy and share their insights and experiences. The event fostered a collaborative environment, allowing stakeholders to align their priorities and develop a comprehensive plan for the successful execution of CBE in the district.
The presence of key stakeholders from various sectors reflects the importance of a collaborative approach to community development. By involving the CEA, GES, GHS, and other departments, Link Community Development aims to create a holistic and sustainable education programme. This multi-sectoral cooperation ensures that CBE addresses the diverse needs of the community, thereby maximizing its impact.
Through this initiative, Link Community Development envisions a transformed educational landscape in Offinso North District. By providing comprehensive support for children who have previously been excluded from education, they aim to create brighter futures and empower individuals to achieve their full potential. The integration of CBE into the existing education system will not only contribute to higher literacy rates but also enhance social and economic development within the district.
As the implementation of CBE progresses, Link Community Development will continue to work closely with all stakeholders, fostering collaboration, and ensuring that the project aligns with the specific needs and aspirations of the communities. This collective effort will help bring about positive change and empower the children of Offinso North District to overcome educational barriers.
